Creative Process

Once the commission has been confirmed, Jo will purchase the required stainless steel product whether it be sheet, plate, tube, bar, or specialised stainless finishes.

Jo then draws out the design to scale.

She cuts out the design with her grinder or plasma cutter, depending on the stainless steel product she is using, and the intricacy of her design.

To create the effect she is looking for, she will finish the edges with a variety of grinding wheels.

Jo uses heat to shape and colour the stainless.

She polishes it to a mirror finish.

With a variety of techniques Jo textures the stainless steel, again depending on the effect she wants to create.

She uses her tig welder to weld her pieces together .
